Mobile Broadband Advantages

There are a wide range of reasons why you might consider getting mobile broadband. See below for our list of mobile broadband advantages –

Convenience

Mobile broadband can be used wherever you are able to get a mobile signal from your chosen provider. This means you can use it outdoors, on the bus, the train, in your favourite coffee shop, basically anywhere you choose.

Ease of Use

Taking out a mobile broadband deal is as easy as taking out a mobile phone deal and setting up a mobile broadband connection is far easier than setting up a standard home broadband connection. Mobile broadband deals make use of USB dongles which are plug and play devices. In other words to setup your mobile broadband connection you simply need to plug the dongle into the USB port on your computer and follow the on screen instructions to get web access. The whole automated installation process takes a matter of minutes to complete.

No Wires

Mobile broadband dongles connect to the Internet wirelessly and are no larger than a cigarette lighter. This makes it a very discrete way of getting broadband access with no fuss and no wires.

No Landline Required

It is possible to save on the cost of not having to have a fixed phone landline at home if you want to exclusively use a mobile broadband dongle to connect to the Internet. Standard home broadband requires a fixed landline to be in place which comes at a cost. Mobile broadband doesn’t require a home landline to be in place.

Free Laptops

There are a number of deals available which incorporate the offer of a free laptop when taken with a mobile broadband contract. Most UK mobile broadband providers offer these types of deals and they are normally taken out over the course of a 24 month contract. They are an excellent way to get a laptop without having an upfront payment – you are able to spread the cost of a laptop over the course of 24 months with the added benefit that you get mobile broadband with the deal.

Cheap Deals

There are currently mobile broadband contracts that are as cheap as £5.00 per month. It would be hard to better that rate for any type of broadband.

Flexibility

Mobile broadband deals can be taken out on a contract basis or pay as you go package. If you will be using mobile broadband regularly you can take out a mobile broadband contract starting with a 30 day rolling contract, through to 12 months, 18 months or 24 month contracts. On the other hand if you will be an occasional user you do not need to commit to a contract because you could take out a pay as you go (PAYG) deal which would involve the upfront cost of the USB dongle (usually around £20) and only pay for access when you need it by paying for a day’s worth of access or paying for the data transfer itself e.g. 1GB.

Share the Love

If a friend or family member needs to get access to the Internet, lend them your dongle! They will simply need to plug in the dongle to their computer and in a few short minutes they will be able to get mobile broadband access too. Also, if you want to share mobile broadband access between up to 5 different devices all at the same time, such as laptops, games consoles, iPod Touch, etc, you could get a WiFi mobile broadband deal or a MiFi mobile broadband deal both of which provide hardware that allow up to 5 devices to share the broadband connection wirelessly.
